Compact and Portable NICU Milk Warming

Kentec Medical, Inc. of Irvine, California is a medical supply company specializing in neonatal care products with an interest in developing a compact milk warming device for their infant patients in intensive care units. An intuitive, step-by-step operation was essential alongside a compact, durable, and easy to clean and maintain device that could be easily moved and set up where needed from the NICU to the hospital room.

The logo design is centered around care for the newborn and is represented in the product’s name. The brand identity that Kentec wanted to bring to the nutritional warmer was as intuitive as the product’s intended design and operation.

specialty design: the warming pouch

The Koala Warming Pouch is a specially designed carrier for supporting the milk containers while being heated in the warmer. Each bag is designed with a separate water pouch for enveloping the milk containers to evenly distribute heat from the vessel’s walls. The Koala gently vibrates during the controlled heating cycle, stirring the water in the pouch, ensuring that the milk is evenly heated and then maintained when the cycle is completed. NICUs are very busy units in a hospital and being able to properly warm and maintain milk is critical in a nurse’s course of working with the infants.
